Job Description

Description / Duties:

Under the supervision of the Investment Director, the Investment Head monitors the current investment portfolios of the University, ensuring its adherence to the investment policies and financial risk management guidelines, and executing short-term investments. The position also serves as the liaison between the University and the external investment partners.

I. Management of Current Investment

  • Provides regular performance reports about current investment matters needed for decision-making.
    • Tracks, records, analyzes, and reports the performance of current investments, for endowed and non-endowed funds.
    • Computes and analyzes the performance metrics of the benchmarks and the individual portfolios’ returns generated by the external investment partners.
    • Identifies potential risk areas and provides recommendations and provides recommendations on how to address occurring and emergent concerns.
    • Provides recommendations to balance the liquidity requirements and the attainment of investment goals.
  • Assists with data entry, documentation, and the maintenance of investment trackers, ensuring that all dashboards provide an accurate and up-to-date picture of the University’s current investment standing.
    • Monitors the domestic and foreign investment partners’ adherence to portfolio guidelines and investment instructions, observance of asset allocation limits and allowed ranges, and compliance with benchmarks of existing portfolios with discretionary mandates, such as  Ateneo Consolidated Fund (i.e., ADMU and the other Ateneo schools),  ADMU Retirement Fund, ADMU Fiduciary accounts; Ateneo Scholarship Foundation, and Jesuit Philippine Province portfolios (Isabela Cultural Corp.); and brokerage mandates, such as Ateneo Consolidated Fund, ADMU Retirement Fund, Ateneo Scholarship Foundation, and Isabela Cultural Corp.
    • Monitors the credit and investment exposures of the portfolios to stay within approved limits.
    • Monitors the investment performance of existing portfolios with brokerage mandates which invest in offshore exchange-traded funds and mutual funds.
    • Monitors the investment performance of the portfolio benchmarks vs. portfolio manager investment performance.
  • Assists in the optimization of the University’s resources for income-generation coming from non-academic and non-tuition related sources.
    • Prepares the investment and operational instructions of the Investment Director to the external investment partners, which includes trade orders of offshore funds. 
    • Responsible for rebalancing activity, capital call, subscription and redemption process, and distribution activity of current investments.
  • Serves as the liaison and contact person between the University and the external investment partners as far as the investment portfolios are concerned.
    • Assists in managing and evaluating the performance of external investment partners. 
    • Represents the University to the CEAP Retirement Fund, Inc. Committee. 

II. Investment Opportunities

  • Sources and evaluates investment opportunities, including those referred/proposed to the University by investment managers, and makes the necessary recommendations. 
  • Assists in operational due diligence processes on prospective investments, which includes conducting cost benefit analysis, market projections, and valuations, evaluating internal controls, trade processing, preparing legal documentation, etc.

III. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor/s or authorized representatives.

Skills required:

  • Familiarity with domestic and global bond markets, stock markets, interest rate movements, and currency, particularly USD:PhP, movements. 
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg
  • Understanding of the financial and capital markets
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical models and analysis, and its application to investments
  • Ability to apply sound business and financial judgment, providing creative solutions  
  • Highly organized, structured and logical
  • Advanced proficiency in productivity tools such as MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint essential) and statistical and financial software to make models and trends
  • Ability to influence and negotiate
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Detail oriented

Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in in business, finance, actuarial science or related quantitative field 
  • Master’s degree in business administration, or any advanced degree in economics, finance, or math is preferred
  • Certified Public Accounting or Chartered Financial Analyst is highly preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience in fund administration, investment operations/management, risk analytics, financial reporting, trust, developing integrated portfolio, financial modeling, etc.

Hours offered:

Mondays to Saturdays, 44 working hours per week
