People Manager of the Year
Objective of the AwardThe People Manager of the Year (PMY) Award aims to recognize the best HR Practitioner in the Philippines with significant presence and contribution to the development of the HR field. Among other things, this award highlights the strategic role of HR management among companies in the Philippines and promotes the work of the exceptional HR executive.
Criteria for the Award
- The Candidate
- Technical and Functional Competence – A strong commercial appreciation about his/her company’s own business and the environment the business operates in. A strategic understanding of what the business wants to achieve in the a specific time horizon – short, medium and long term – and be able to provide HR inputs to the broader business strategy. A leader of change, a leader of best practices and of people. Solid HR skills in labor legislation, employee relations, training and development, recruitment and retention, reward and organizational design.
- Personal Competence – Unchallenged integrity. Simple common sense which refers to his/her ability to lead and manage in a pragmatic way that actually works and is not over-complicated. Excellent interpersonal attributes. Strong sense of intuition which refers to his/her ability to anticipate what the organization needs in the short and longer term, not just react when things happen or when change is imminent.
- Contributions
- Roles and Contributions to the Organization – He/She is recognized by the company’s management as a key executive in the organization; he/she is credited for valuable contributions and is an active participant in policy and decision–making functions and company operations. As a People Manager, he/she has elevated the HRM functions to an equal stature to other management functions such as Finance, Marketing, Sales and Operations. He/She has set up and successfully implemented at least one (1) innovative HRM program in any area. He/She has the ability to foster and maintain effective harmonious employer–employee relations. He/She relates well with his peers (co–managers), staff and employees in the company.
- Contributions to the Community – Involved in organizations or community works.
- Contributions to the HR Industry/Profession – He/She has done and published research work, articles, literature, and/or books; and currently involved in special HRM projects or programs.
- Nominations for the People Manager of the Year are open to all PMAP Members only and in good standing.
- A Nomination shall be endorsed by either a PMAP member of good standing or by a member of any nationally-recognized organization (such as the Jaycees, Rotary Club, Kiwanis, Lions, PCCI, ECOP, Industry and Functional Groups, etc.).
- Previous People Manager of the Year winners may again be nominated for the same category provided there is a five (5) year gap between the date of the last award and the date the nomination.
- The accomplished Nomination Form must be received by the Chairperson of the Awards Committee on or before 30 April 2012.
- The PMAP Award Committee reserves the right to validate all claims officially presented by the nominee.
- The Board of Judges composed of distinguished men/women will deliberate on the merits of each of the nomination and select the final winner of the award.
- Should there be inconsistencies established which may materially affect the integrity of the nomination due notice of the appropriate action to be taken by the committee shall be sent to the nominee.
- The PMAP Board of Directors shall confirm the decision of the Board of Judges, which shall be final and unappealable.
