Over and beyond the political divides that confront us, the many challenges that beset our people test our spirits and our collective strength.
Poverty lingers. Corruption remains unabated. And our excesses against the environment are slowly catching up on us.
But in spite of these difficulties, we refuse to back down and surrender. As people managers, we know that the human potential and spirit can transcend the obstacles that pull us down. All we need is commitment.
As we end the first decade of the new millennium, we at the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) resolve to be at the forefront of change. 2010 is yet another turning point in the country’s history given the presidential elections in May. And in this regard, we stay true to our role as change agents by leveraging our sphere of influence in order to induce positive change. Collectively, our sphere of influence is 11 million strong, around 6 million of which are qualified voters nationwide.
As social engineers, our initiatives at the workplace inevitably ripple to our employees’ families and friends. As such, enterprise-level change can facilitate the loftier goals of social change. Our theme for the year affirms this mission.
Investing in People for Sustainable National Development.
We believe that investing in people is the key that will lead us out of the rut we find ourselves in. Simply put, people make the difference.
Panahon ng Pagbabago sa Pagbabago ng Panahon.
And this investment must be done today. At a time when change happens at lightning pace, responsiveness dictates that we change with the times and act now. |
