Certificate in Human Resource Planning and Acquisition (CHRPA)



This course has two components: 1) strategic manpower planning and 2) recruitment and selection. The course introduces the value of manpower planning as a strategic business tool that goes beyond mere forecasting of numbers; and recruitment and selection as more than just hiring people. At the end of the course participants are expected to know how to do the following:

  1. Use statistical and non-quantitative tools in forecasting and projecting manpower changes in their organization;
  2. Prepare a manpower plan that takes into account business directions of their organization as well as trends in their manpower movements;
  3. Prepare effective recruitment programs and tools;
  4. Draft dimensions for their recruitment and selection activities;
  5. Conduct selection techniques that are fair, legal, and effective;
  6. Conduct behavior- and competency- based interviews;
  7. Illustrate the various elements of their recruitment and selection programs as a whole system.

Note: This segment will require a combination of lecturers and workshops/role playing. Where material is determined as good for case studies, these will be undertaken.

5.3 Performance Monitoring and Feedback

Note: The primary mode of imparting knowledge is lecture. Prior to discussion proper, students may have also been requested to bring to class any document regarding induction or verbal sharing of same. The same will be true of Performance Evaluation. Forms may be sampled for discussion.
