EASTER FROM A LEADER’S PERSPECTIVE

Jesus met with people, talked to them and touched their lives after he rose from the grave. As Rick Warren puts it in his article “What Difference Does Easter Makes” “Jesus is He who He said He was; He has the power He said He had and keeps the promises He makes.” (blurb)

For a leader, therefore, the resurrection event should not be taken lightly. Its spiritual underpinnings can, in fact, be contextualized in a corporate setting. It may mean three things for an HROD practitioner:

1. Your past can be forgiven.

Sulking in a corner because of some mistakes and oversights in the past could never make a person grow. So stop blaming yourself for doing things you wish you had not done, for saying things you wish you had not said, and for thinking about things you wish you had not thought.

Do not wallow in your regrets, bad feelings and guilt. Learn from them. Remember that Jesus nailed them all to the cross (Colossians 2:14). He actually wants to forgive your past and cancel every debt you owe from emotional debts, relational debts to sins of commission as well as omission. Just believe!

2. Your present problems can be managed.

The attitude of resignation, being powerless in many things, is self-defeating. Unfamiliar situations, bad habits, failing relationships both at the home front and at work, debts and hectic schedules can be controlled. All it takes is a strong inner resolve.

You also need a power greater than yourself. Just like the mighty power that raised Christ from the dead (Ephesians 1:19-20). Again, Rick Warren pointed out “No problem is too big for God. No situation is hopeless if you’ll turn it over to him.”

“Be ready however for anything through the strength of Christ, who lives in you” (Philippians 4:13).

3. Your future can be secure.

Death is one of the inevitabilities in life. But despite the reality of death we do not like to talk about it often. The truth still remains that such certainty needs thorough preparation.

This could mean building your life around significance. You might be in deep thinking as to what legacy you would like to leave in your office or at home before your time come. Or you might be preparing right now for your life after your term has ended both work and life related.

If you are thinking about heaven, consider this:

Many Christians understand heaven as a perfect place where total love, peace, joy and perfection can be found. Isn’t it proper then for you and me to strive for perfection then?

Actually, nobody is perfect except Jesus. If so, is it that hard to trust his words, “I am the way, the Truth and the Life?” (John 3:16)

Jesus was the only perfect person who ever lived. This is because he is God! Through him we know what God is like. We get in on his goodness only if we first trust and establish a relationship with him

John 17:1-2 says, “After Jesus said this, He looked toward heaven and prayed: ‘Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify You; You granted Him authority over all people that He might give eternal life to all those You have given Him.’”

Put your trust in Jesus - The Way, the Truth and the Life!
