Message from PMAP President

The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) enters its 52nd year of service and today, stands proud of being the premier organization of people management practitioners.

We stand prepared to build on this great foundation, created brick by brick through the inspired leadership of our past presidents and the dedicated service of our many committed members.

2008 will be a great year for our association, as we embark on a journey towards improved Philippine competitiveness through partnerships and collaboration. Our theme for the year, “Enhancing Philippine Global Competitiveness through People”, exhorts all people managers to collectively contribute to a more productive workplace through world-class people management standards and support the People Competitiveness Agenda of the National Competitiveness Council, created by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to enhance Philippine competitiveness.

Building on the strong foundation of the past, we will exercise Thought Leadership on peak people and institutional performance by strengthening our research and educational capabilities. We will continue to upgrade HRM professionalization through competency assessment and accreditation. We will actively promote world class people practices through the Investors in People Standards, a PMAP flagship program. Looking to the future, we will reinforce value-adding services, open our membership to people line managers and strengthen our organizational capabilities.

We believe that people are the new source of wealth creation in the New Economy and by leveraging the strengths of the Filipino talent, we can build a highly competitive Philippines.

ENRIQUE V. ABADESCO JR., FPM
2008 PMAP President
